HCA Among Best Places to Work in IT (Again!)

Computerworld's 100 Best Places to Work in ITIt doesn't take an IT pro to do this computation: After scoring a spot at #56 on Computerworld magazine's list of the 100 Best Places to Work in IT 2009, HCA jumped to #42 on this year's list — an improvement of 14 spots! Among large companies (those with more than 10,000 employees), HCA jumped ahead nine spots this year, moving from #33 to #24.

As with last year, HCA continues to place high when it comes to the percentage of women on the IT staff, moving ahead one spot from #16 to #15 as that percentage remained around 40 percent.

Competition was strong among the 500 companies in the running for the top spots, and the independent third-party judges made their final decisions based on feedback from employees at each company on topics like work/life balance, training and development programs, and compensation and benefits. HCA was included in the top 100 for excelling in the areas of diversity, career development, retention, benefits and training.

And this year we're not just a top place to work — we're also an exciting place to work in IT as we move ahead with hCare, HCA's electronic health record. It's the nation's largest EHR roll-out, and we have plenty of exciting and challenging opportunities for IT professionals and clinical informaticists.
